Cross-party Parliamentary Group for the Advancement of LGBTI Rights Expresses Strong Support for Transgender People
On the occasion of the commemoration of March 31 – the International Day for the Visibility of Transgender Persons, the Inter-Party Parliamentary Group for the Advancement of the Rights of LGBTI Persons expresses strong support for transgender persons, for the protection and advancement of their rights.
IPPG for the rights of LGBTI persons will continue with activities aimed at preventing and protecting against discrimination, violence and stigmatization, which transgender people face in Macedonian society.
In that direction, the top priority is the adoption of a legal framework that will ensure legal recognition of gender, which is also an obligation of the Republic of North Macedonia according to the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights. For this purpose, as MP members of the IPPG for the rights of LGBTI people, we will submit a Draft Law for amending and supplementing the Law on Civil Registry.
