International Transgender Day of Visibility is commemorated on March 31st and is dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness in terms of the discrimination faced by transgender people around the world, as well as celebrating their contribution to society. The event was founded by the transgender activist Rachel Crandall from Michigan in 2009, when the first March was held, as a direct reaction to the lack of LGBTQ+ recognition of transgender people, emphasizing the frustration that the center’s only well-known transgender day was Transgender People Remembrance Day, which mourned the murders of transgender people, but did not recognize and celebrate the living members of the transgender community. The first International Day of Transgender Visibility in the Republic of North Macedonia was held on March 31, 2019.
